Nitin Madhav is the Program Development Officer for Afghanistan in the Asia Near East Bureau of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). He's had a very long standing interest in Afghanistan and was part of the Agency's immediate response following the events of 9/11, and

was instrumental in printing and distribution of 10.5 million textbooks for the opening of schools after the fall of the Taliban. Currently, Mr. Madhav backstops the $1.15 billion USAID portfolio in Afghanistan. A public health professional by training, Mr. Madhav previously served as a technical advisor to USAID's Child Survival Grants Program with 72 child health programs in 36 countries, and prior to that, he was a coordinator for USAID's largest child survival project, BASICS. He worked with Afghan refugees in camps in Pakistan and Tajikistan in the early 1990s. |
